The Windom Ambulance Service was started in 1975. Our Service is licensed as a Basic Life Support Service and is also licensed as a Specialized Life Support Advanced Service by the Minnesota Regulatory Board.

The Windom Ambulance Service has 14 Basic EMT’s and we have 3 licensed ambulances, two of which have air ride suspension for a smoother ride. We are required by the State of Minnesota to have two EMT’s on call 24 hours a day. We respond to around 500 calls a year traveling 35-40,000 miles annually.
Our Squad has monthly meetings with training as well as Regional monthly meetings with training and an annual State Conference with training. We presently have 3 new recruits attending basic EMT training classes. There are other opportunities for training reported at the squad meetings. Our squad has three members who are instructors in CPR, one is an instructor for Minnesota West Technical College and one member is on the Minnesota West Advisory Council. Two members are Nationally registered EMT’s.
Windom Ambulance Service has been recognized by the Minnesota EMS Association, Sioux Valley Hospital and nationally with Service of the Year awards.
