The Police Department consists of a chief, seven patrol persons and a secretary. Vacancies in this department are filled through recommendations from the Civil Service Commission with Council confirmation. Twenty-four hour protection is furnished. The police cars are equipped with radios in contact with a central dispatching point at the County Sheriff's Office.
